CLIENTS NAME: Randy &
Robin Sellier
PROJECT LOCATION: Pelham Manor, NY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Removal of the concrete floor slab; The entire basement was excavated
mainly to provide more headroom, but also to address the issues of moisture
and water,
as well as the floor being out of level. Over 60 cubic yards of dirt
and concrete were hauled
away!-- This created the perfect opportunity for installing hydronic
(meaning water) radiant heat. Imagine walking barefoot on a warm floor
(around 100 degrees) instead of the opposite, a cold (50 - 55 degrees)
concrete floor. This also greatly increase air quality, as a great part of
excess humidity found in a typical basement is now history. Now that
in itself makes the basement quite inviting!
This
walk-out lower level features two separate play areas, one for the pool
table and one for the ping pong table. There's a nice, cozy area
between the rooms that serves as the home theatre/media room where the three
children just love to "chill out" and gather around the plasma TV. There's
also a small kitchenette equipped with an under counter refrigerator and a
small microwave for when the kids "get the cravings". This lower level
(originally referred to as The Basement) would not be complete without a
bathroom, so a powder room was added. You simply can not have an
entire floor or story without a bathroom, can you?
Also included: Drainage work, extensive electrical and plumbing work,
windows replacements, new stairs, new exterior door. For the first
time ever, we used a suspended ceiling; We recommend drywall, but in
this particular project it was simply a better fit
The new lower level features a stamped concrete floor ("English slate"
pattern by Increte), as shown just above, for both the affordability,
aesthetics and practicality..

CLIENT COMMENTS:
"Sylvain Cote and Absolute Remodeling did
an excellent work in finishing our basement. No part of the basement in our
75 year old home had been finished previously, and parts of the basement
were occasionally wet. The project involved lowering a concrete floor to
achieve necessary ceiling height, resolving water and drainage issues in the
basement and backyard, finishing three rooms for use as game rooms and a
media room, creating a powder room and wet bar, and cleaning up unfinished
storage areas. My family has been very pleased with the results.
Sylvain brought a great deal of creativity and vision to the various
challenges posed by the project. He has great problem-solving skills and a
nice eye for design. The quality of the workmanship was excellent, and
Sylvain readily agreed to correct anything that did not conform to his high
standards. The work proceeded steadily and essentially on schedule,
finishing only a few weeks later than anticipated because we did some
additional work. We found Sylvain to be honest and straightforward in his
dealings with us. The contract was detailed and specific, the only extra
expenses were for work clearly outside the scope of the original job, and
Sylvain was open and forthcoming in providing credits for any work we
decided not to do. His employees were also professional, careful and
considerate.
In short, our project proceeded as smoothly as possible, and our finished
basement looks beautiful. I would certainly work with Absolute Remodeling
again."
Sincerely,
Robin Sellier
