CLIENTS NAME: Thomas &
Kari Walsh
PROJECT LOCATION: Pelham, NY
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Complete gutting of existing "finished" basement,
including the concrete floor slab removal. The entire basement was excavated
mainly to provide more headroom, but also to address the issues of moisture,
as well as the floor being unleveled. Over 40 cubic yards of dirt and
concrete were hauled
away. This
now walk-out lower level features a custom built pine (to match existing
furniture) wet bar with under counter refrigerator. A soffit
replicating the shape of of the bar was added to enhance the custom look.
Also built were a spacious powder room, a TV area and a redesigned laundry room.
Complete demolition and replacement of
exterior concrete stairs and retaining walls to replace the existing "Bilco"
door, accommodating the new French door was also necessary. The new
retaining walls were built further apart to accommodate larger, deeper
treads, and four foot
wide stairs. Retaining walls and steps were topped with flagstones.
All three windows were enlarged, and custom window wells also topped with
flagstones were built. Interior stairs leading to the above floor were also replaced with new ones.
Extensive lighting and electrical work,
as well as plumbing
work was also part of the scope of work. The entire ductwork layout
was replaced and reconfigured for improved flow. The new lower level was finished with nice
20" "Jerusalem Gold " tiles. Please see the
'before & after' floor plan
to fully appreciate the transformation.
